Having some trouble deciding on a place to spend the evening for a drink with your friends? Worry not. We have you covered you with our very subjective selection of some of the best locals bars in Amsterdam!

1. Winston Kingdom

Quoted from our Spotter Martin “Party hard – sleep easy in Amsterdam!”, this spot offers a wide variety of entertainment during each day of their active hours inside. It is a collection for live bands, poetry, dance nights and parties located in the center of the red light district. The theme and style always varies from style to style ranging from a punk gig to a DJ night also filled with a variety of audiences ranging from early 20s to people in their 30s. Definitely a place not to miss!

2. The Minds

This bar is different from your normal bar – a hardcore and punk alternative bar. Ever since it took over a former country bar, the place has been embedded with skate decks and used boots. The price for a beer is one of the cheapest in the center of Amsterdam ( € 1.70 – most bars charge € 2.20 and up) and the place has pool table, pinball and also punk rock for entertainment running through daily. If you are up for playing some pool or pinball accompanied by punk rock music in Amsterdam, this is the place for you.

3. Savoy bar

Once in a while it is actually nice to get “lost”. This bar is just the right spot to be “lost in the night with friends at parties or places we actually wish we weren’t but the night brought us there.” Our Amsterdam Spotter Stephen has also set up some guidelines to follow during your visit there:

1. Don’t ever plan your visit to Savoy (your brain will remember the address, no worries)
2. Never go to Savoy alone
3. Always bring some people you don’t know
4. Never remember where you came from (do not come from home)
5. Never remember how you got home (safely)
6. Always enter after 01:30

Savoy has the right of mixture of making you blend in with the locals and being a great place to end your pub crawl by singing and dancing the night out.

4. Café De Wetering

Contrary to the previous mentions, De Wetering is more of a cozy and calm place for a drink with your friends. The ambience produced by the wooden floorings, wall out of brick, a fireplace and at first glance may look worn down is one to look out for. If you’re up for more of a comfortable place to share a moment with your friends, this Amsterdam bar is highly recommended.

5. Café De Duivel

De Duivel is one of the few hip hop bars in Amsterdam. They play hip hop at all times, and have different DJs every night. The place caters to open-minded music lovers, who often come from far to have a drink (or smoke) at this bar.

6. Fier

This is a place known to serve Belgian specialties including croquet monsieur, shrimp croquettes, burgers, selection of different Belgian beers and as our Spotter Shawn mentioned, the delicious fries is unforgettable! It offers facilities particularly its big terrace along the water to relax on and wooden couches alongside blankets to keep yourself warm and comfortable. Fun fact: Fier means proud in Dutch and this is a place Amsterdam can be proud of.
