A bit away from the center, with a bit of a Mediterranean touch, Hesp stands out with one of the nicest terraces Amsterdam has to offer, right on the river Amstel.
Actually the whole area is largely underrated. It’s a nice stroll along the water, nothing too fancy, but nice and relaxed. You might want to end the stroll right here at the terrace of Cafe Hesp, and have a beer in the sun.
Inside you’ll find a bit of an Irish pub style interior. Hesp features about 40 brands of beer, 20 of them fresh from the tap. You can tell it”s a real beer cafe. But what I like Hesp the most for is the live music events on Sunday afternoon (not always – check first, if that’s what you are looking for). Hang out inside with a Sunday afternoon beer and a band, or outside on the lounge couches or the terrace when the weather allows it, it’s a fantastic way to swing out the weekend…
On Friday nights it is less crowded, but still a place to have a good time. The bartenders are doing their best to entertain, and you can tell they love their job.
But Hesp is not only a bar to have a good time on a Friday night, Hesp also accommodates a full restaurant with a variety of international dishes for a reasonable price.
