What’s better than the comfort of a proper Bloody Mary, lots of bacon-overloaded food, spot-on coffee and the warmth of Australians serving all this great stuff on whatever hung-over day of the week? Probably nothing.
Therefore Drovers Dog is one of my favourite places in town. With one of the shops only a block away from my place, I’m becoming a regular. This is a place you walk in right before noon and never want to leave again. Why? Because of their hospitality, their corn fritters (with the best chili jam in the world) and their beetroot-macadamia-cranberry cake.
Make sure you clear your schedule before walking in: the place is as laid-back as can be, and so should you. With some friends, a book or one of the newspapers you’ll be fine for the next couple of hours. Had a busy day? They’ve got dinner as well (and they’re opening a cocktail-bar soon). See you down under?
