I love Vietnamese street-food. Just the thought of summer rolls makes my mouth water every time. The simple combination of fresh and tasty ingredients held together by rice paper and combined with peanut and garlic lemon oyster sauce must be the most perfect food there is, no matter the time of day.
I was introduced to FRNZY only recently, and was surprised that I didn’t know about this place until then! Especially since it is so close to another one of my favorites Pho 91 (check the Pho 91 article).
FRNZY combines the Vietnamese and the French. This is especially visible in the interior. It doesn’t have the vibe you’d expect from your typical Asian restaurant. The tiles on the floor and the open and light space breathe more of a small French brasserie than that of a Vietnamese street-food joint. However there are plenty of elements that give away the Asian origin, and luckily the menu is also mainly Vietnamese: Bahn Mi sandwiches, Bun salads, summer rolls with lots of inventive combinations and of course the famous spring rolls are on the menu too. My favorites at the moment are the mango salad and the summer rolls with grilled sausage.
FRNZY is open from 10:00 to 22:00, and if having summer rolls for breakfast is a step too far for you FRNZY also has a good choice of healthy smoothie bowls.
