Underneath Cafe de Paris on the Rokin is Metropolitain, a cute little breakfast and brunch spot which you could easily walk past if you weren’t looking for it.
If you’re familiar with Amsterdam then you probably know that the Rokin is a horrible tourist trap of a street, but this spot is definitely worth braving it. The food is good, interior is really nice, and there is also quite a big terrace outside.
They serve somewhat fancy breakfast and brunch dishes like lobster rolls with truffle fries, caramel seasalt crepes, and really, really good french toast with mascarpone, maple syrup, and forest fruits. There are four different twist on eggs benedict to choose from, including one with bacon and avocado. They also have some healthier breakfast options like an acai bowl, which I’ve heard great things about. The coffee is good, as are the three different kinds of mimosas.
They also serve dinner, so if you’re not ready to go home after a lazy brunch, you can stay for some more drinks and food (if you have space left!)
