I love freshly made pasta. And I prefer restaurants that are not too fancy, are laid-back, accessible, yet in terms of a certain creative lifestyle. And – that speaks for itself: not too expensive.
All the conditions are checked at Pasta Pasta, a pretty small pasta snackbar. But the size is not a measure for quality. First of all, the pasta is freshly made. Second: you basically create your dish yourself. First you choose the sauce, let’s say the overall taste. Be it tomato, be it Bolognese, be it Carbonara, or cheese, or whatever you might want it to taste like.
Next you choose an add-on: rucola, grilled aubergine, bacon, chili, garlic – hmm, mouthwatering already…
Last step: choose your kind of pasta: spaghetti, penne, cannelloni – what more do you want? Maybe gnocchi? They also have gnocchi.
You don’t really sit at individual tables, there are only a few, the rest is shared tables and benches. But that’s an atmosphere I like. Fast, sociable, and the food is still prepared with care. Pasta Pasta has all I expect from a restaurant.
There are actually two locations: the one listed here is just around the corner from the Albert Cuyp market – that’s where I usually go. But there is another location at the Warmoestraat 49, in case you’re somewhere close to Central Station, or the Red Light District: that one is even open until 02:00 on the weekend.
