Tired of endless menus with loads of options and looking for a quick, healthy and tasty meal? Sir Hummus is the place to be. Slightly hidden on a small square in the De Pijp district, the cosy restaurant serves only one thing: hummus.
In Holland, we mostly see hummus as something to eat on bread, as a dip or a topping on a nice sandwich, while at Sir Hummus it’s the base of the entire dish. Slightly warm, with a great (and secret) spicy sauce, fresh herbs, some pita bread and a side salad, this is the healthy but hearty dish that spices up every lunch break. If you like, you can add meat or mushrooms – I, although this isn’t really necessary, like to add some beef every now and then.
To make sure the shop creates as little waste as possible, they only make a certain amount of hummus every day. If they run out of stock, they simply close the shop. Simply put, you’d better be on time (especially when you want a place to sit). On sunny days I recommend the big bench up front or the park nearby (although both can be challenging while eating).
