Sound Garden: punk rock, alternative, table football, pinball, a pool table. Sound Garden. It’s like it’s been here forever, I can’t remember Amsterdam without it. These days, the Soundgarden seems one of the only places left that gathers a certain lifestyle – the old punk rock feeling. It’s not too wild, though, so it appeals to a lot of free minds that like to have a low key fun evening out, drinking beer. Or playing table football, or pool.
Next to the table football there is a lounge corner. Lounge corner? It’s pretty shabby, those sofas have seen decades of spilled beer and cigarettes burning holes in them. But that’s rock’n roll, isn’t it?
I like to go to Sound Garden whenever I feel like some action, and that would mean in my case playing a match of table football, I always find someone to play with. I don’t play like a beginner, but you are likely to meet real pro’s, with their own strict rules, and who wins stays in the game. So that can mean a pretty short stay, depending on who you bump into. But anyway, it’s for the fun, and the challenge.
You will meet a lot of international folks, travellers, students from abroad… The terrace is always open, also during the winter months (that’s because the smoking booth is pretty small).
