I walk through the Javastreet quite a lot as it is only just around the corner. And while it’s usually the trendy and upcoming places that catch my eye (a new place seems to pop up here about once a week), last week exactly the opposite happened. I walked by Star and was intrigued by the interior, especially the bright (tacky) lights, but also by the smell of barbecued meat and above all by the fact that the restaurant was completely full even though it was quite late in the evening.
We decided to go in and were lucky that there was a space left and that we were just in time before the kitchen would close. The friendly staff, pleasant atmosphere and even more great smells immediately made it clear that this was not some random fast food kebab place. The restaurant turned out to be Iraqi, specialized in charcoal barbecued meats and chicken, served with delicious fresh flat bread and tzaziki. Really delicious! And really cheap too. What more do you need? Alcohol perhaps. Obviously no alcohol was served but don’t worry, if desired there are plenty of nice places for a drink only minutes away.
