One bizarre place I found myself at the other day: Well, I have written about “Chef” earlier, but I had not been to the upstairs room yet. What you will discover is an extra (living) room which is so personal that I wondered if I should be sitting there at all. Talking to the victorian style dressed guy I met upstairs, he revealed this place to be a museum – for tea pots! Just find out yourself – and don’t be intimidated by the private atmosphere. Well, the other day, some tourist girls took off and went back down because they didn’t feel comfortable to find themselves in someone elses living room…
Savory quiches and all kinds of sweet cakes. Traiterie Chef is a small, family-run lunch room/café in the heart of Amsterdam, right in the center so unfortunately I don’t come there often. (The main shopping area is something that I am trying to avoid as much as I can).
To be honest: I got to know about Traiterie Chef by a totally excited post by one of my Facebook friends. Well, I had to find out if that excitement was justified – and I was craving chocolate. So I went downtown and found out that they not only serve the – indeed – most delicious chocolate cake but also very tasty savory quiches. In fact, they looked so good that I first tried the onion/leek/chili quiche and saved the chocolate cake for later.
Check out their FB page!

So, what’s new at this spot? Their FB page??
jep – the facebookpage is new, and the openingstimes have changed. I wouldn’t want you to go there and find it closed. But graet that you follow my articles and noticed I haven’t change the text since my last update. Enjoy!
How about Broodje Bert on the corner?
We went upstairs, very special place. The chocolate cake is even better than you can imagine! Thanks for the tip Martin!
I can vouch for this. Best chocolate cake ever.
That’s absolutely true! But I didn’t put it that way because I wanted to give the other cakes a chance, too
