Yogurt is moving up in the food chain and the popularity of the Yoghurt Barn is living proof of that. Healthy, biodynamic, organic and being fit are the fashion these days with the young and beautiful people. Especially in De Pijp coffee bars are popping up like daffodils in the Spring and attracting lots of people who are conscious about their food. And they have money to spend. So the Yoghurt Barn fits in very well.
Yogurt is the basis for all sorts of varieties here because it’s healthy, organic and straight from a local farm. So at Yoghurt Barn you are confronted with six varieties of yogurt to choose from: low-fat, hangop, soja, frozen, farmers’ and goat. Mixed with all sorts of fruits, grains, nuts etc. it makes for a good breakfast. And of course there are the espressos, lattes, healthy juices, muffins, brownies and croissants to combine with.
The large blackboard gives you a perfect overview of what to choose for breakfast or lunch. So I go for the Specials and leave the Blended and Yoghurt Basis variety on the side. With the Yoghurt Basis you can make your own special yogurt by adding the ingredients you like best. The Merry Berry is the one I prefer. Especially if you just want fruits and yogurt together, this is the one! No need to add sugar because the blueberries, raspberries and marmalade are tasteful enough. Combined with a latte I am off to a perfect start of the day.
