Bodem – An urban cultural wilderness

Antwerp can never have enough summer bars! Bodem opened on the 3rd of June, and hooray; a new summer pop-up bar has been born.

Neighbours, cultural tourists and other passengers are welcome in the gorgeous garden of the former officer’s house which was built around 1900.

What can you do if you feel like gardening, but don’t have a garden? Go to Bodem! The plant boxes are ready to be used and the neighbours are responsible for the maintenance of the vegetable garden.

At the impressive bar – handmade from recycled materials – you can drink special beers and wines, no commercial offers here; they have searched for local alternatives. I can recommend ‘Blonde Stoot’, a full gold blond beer, which can be translated as ‘a blonde hot girl’.

Every Wednesday at 17:00 during summer there is an art intervention or presentation by artists in ‘The Living Room’. On stage, starting bands get their chance to show their talents, and last but not least, you can follow outdoor yoga classes at democratic prices during the weekends.

Escape from the city and feel like being at the countryside, let’s celebrate summer!
