This might not be the most ‘local’ thing to do, but it’s definitely something you have to try when you’re in Antwerp. In a more traditional Belgian ‘frituur’ you would also find some meats and other fried snacks, but in this shop they focus on the fries, and only the fries. Which are excellent by the way :).
Sergio Herman is a pretty famous chef from the Netherlands. He used to have a 3 star restaurant somewhere in the north of Belgium, and opened up a second one in Antwerp that has 2 stars already. He closed down the first one, apparently had too much time on his hands, and decided to start making fries. The first shop opened up in the Netherlands, but that guy really loves Belgium, so we got one too!
Crunchy yet soft fries, 5 different home made sauces to choose from, a seasonal special, and of course, Flemish stew. I just LOVE their béarnaise! The shop opened up less then a month ago, there’s a little bit of a hype, so queues are still long. Don’t let that stop you – the fries are absolutely worth the wait!
