Spoor Noord is a brand new park in Antwerp. It’s located in the North of the city centre. Spoor Noord is a contemporary urban landscape park. It combines nature, light, space, relaxation, culture, sports and events. The western section of the park includes a number of play areas, a bmx and skate park and in summer a summer terrace (Cargo). Next to Cargo you find playgrounds for kids, two of them are Water Playgrounds (only in spring and summer) with fountains. So you can watch your kids playing while enjoying a cocktail. The other part of the park includes football and basketball terrains. It also has a summer bar: Usuma Express. A quiet, relaxed place where you can drink the best bio lemonades and bio beer. We always go to Usuma Express when we don’t have kids with us or when we are not in the mood for the crowd at Cargo summer bar. Winter is here … … Do you feel like a winterbarbecue? There even is a public barbecue in the park, just bring food, drinks and stuff to let it burn. Clean the barbecue afterwards and enjoy! Details about this spot (Show on map)

It is a lovely place in summer with kids playing in the fountains, piknicks on the lawn, and skating, soccer etc elsewhere. Cargo bar is excellent for sipping cocktails, cava, or soft drinks while kids play in the playground next to it. Getting here by public transport is via train to antwerp dam or better rent one of the A-velo bikes
The outside cargo bar is supposed to be temporary only, until they finish the events hall and include a bar. But I think a lot of people are hoping it will be a permanent summer address!
btw: it’s Usawa express, a summer-only thing as wel. there is a permanent Usawa bar in the south of Antwerp.
Visited last week – short hop on the train from Antwerpen-Centraal to Antwerpen-Dam (by the way, it would be great if these articles gave info on getting to places; they may be spotted by locals, but those of us visiting may not always be local ourselves!). It was fantastic – the Mojitos were divine and the kids loved the water fountains. They show films for free at weekends too. Only gripe was a pretty long queue each time for the bar. Wish I could transport it to London, but I guess then it would be rammed to the gills and no fun at all…
Great place. Check out my pictures of it here:
