Why is the map not displaying completely?

Most probably you experienced a connection error while downloading your city guide. We advice you to remove the app completely, and reinstall it again.
1) Go to Settings => Applications => Manage applications
2) Choose “uninstall”
3) Download The Spotted by LocalsĀ app again from Google Play
4) Re-install your city (of course you won’t be charged again!)

If you have purchased the full version before, all spots & maps will be downloaded. It can take up to 10 minutes to download a complete city guide, as all maps are stored offline in the app.

1. Why is the city guide I purchased not working?

Broken maps / no spots shown / city guide not fully downloaded?

You probably experienced a temporary Internet connection error while downloading, or you’re using an old version of the app. It’s easy to resolve!

1. Please delete the app and download the latest version from Google Play.
2. “Buy” the city guide again. Google will recognize your purchase after your click “buy” and will ask you to confirm if you want to download the previously paid for city guide again.

Make sure you’re on WIFI, and do not to switch between applications. It can take up to 10 minutes to download a complete city guide, as all maps are stored offline in the app.

2. How can I re-install a previously purchased city guide for free?

1. To make sure you’re using the latest version of the app delete it and download the latest version from Google Play.
2. “Buy” the city guide again. Google will recognize your purchase after your click “buy” and will ask you to confirm if you want to download the previously paid for city guide again

3. Why can’t I log in to the app?

The login in our app is only for internal users. The protect the privacy of our users we don’t store any of your data! You don’t need to log in to restore city guides you purchased earlier. See previous question!

If you’re an internal user and have lost your password, click here to reset it.

4. Is the app 100% offline?

Yes, all the tips and maps in all city guides work completely offline. You can turn your internet connection off, and everything will work!

Only if you visit an external link (which you won’t have to do – all info is included in the app) you have to be online to open it. We warn you with a pop-up, so don’t worry!

5. How do you keep the tips up-to-date?

Our Spotters write about their favorite spots only – spots they visit frequently. They constantly update their articles, to keep them up-to-date and up-to-season. Whenever you’re online, the app notifies you when there are updates available. If you choose so, the city guide will be updated – for free of course!

6. Are updates free?

All updates of this app and the city guides will always be free.

7. Can I save my favorite tips?

Yes! if you want the app to remember a certain spot, you can store it as a “favorite” in a city guide. On the map you can easily recognize spots you favorited.

8. Do I need a GPS?

Yes, you do. Google will not let you download our app if your Android device does not have a GPS.

9. Can I switch to or from iPhone for free?

Congratulations with your new phone :). We will help you switch for free by refunding your double purchases. Unfortunately Google & Apple don’t play well together and especially Apple does not make it easy to refund, so it takes a few steps.

Please:
1) Make sure you purchased the same city guide for both Android and iOS
2) Take a screenshot of the opening screen of the app on your iPhone (we can’t look into your account)
3) Send an email to apple-support@spottedbylocals.com to this email with
> Your Paypal email address for the refund. If you don’t have one, a Paypal email account will be created when you accept the payment.

10. I use the old app. Can I upgrade for free?

Yes of course!

We refund each upgrade from our “old” one city app after we can confirm you have purchased the stand-alone version as well as the same city from our new app from the same Google Play account.

Please send an email to android-support@spottedbylocals.com stating the Google Play email address you used to purchase both city guides. We will refund and reply within 24 hours.

Did you purchase your stand-alone city guide more than a year ago? Google no longer permits us to refund app purchased more than a year ago. We can refund these purchases only via Paypal or bank orĀ  (if you’re in the EU) bank account.

Please send an email to android-support@spottedbylocals.com stating the Google Play email address you used to purchase both city guides and the following payment information.
A) Paypal: your Paypal email address. If you don’t have one, an account will be created for you when we pay you
or
B) Bank account: name account holder, country & city account holder, IBAN & BIC
