Well, this is kind of a park! Not your best choice for a walk, but with a breathtaking view! It is located behind the Aghios Ioannis Metro Station (red line) and it’s quite steep, which makes it almost impossible to climb, apart from a small path that was made a long time ago and runs through it. Along the path, you will find pensioners playing backgammon and chess in groups!
It’s quite neglected but it’s charming in its state of decay. It’s really interesting to walk around and see the houses built on the other side of the hill, as most of them look like village houses, although built in the center of Athens. Don’t visit after nightfall, just to be on the safe side.
It’s worth it to make it to the top and take a nice look and photos of Acropolis. Take some time to just sit on the rocks on the top and take a good look around you, from the city centre, all the way to the seafront. This is one of the best views in Athens, although the surrounding area and the park could be preserved a bit better!
One idea would be to combine this short walk (you won’t spend more than an hour here), with a shopping spree in Athens Metro Mall, two metro stops away (Agios Dimitrios). There, you can get some coffee or even catch a movie if you fancy! It’s one of the newest malls of the city.
