Athens is alive 24 hours a day and its heart is rocking in Mobetter until the early morning. Mobetter is located at a pedestrian road next to a public school, in an old building of the early 20th century. The majestic entrance features a wooden stair leading to the main space and the bar. You have a strong feeling the minute you enter and that’s what is all about. The feeling never abandons you. Neither does beer. Mobetter is all about raging crowd, loud music and party until the morning. The music rocks 80s, 90s and 00s and I wouldn’t recommend coming early. The place fills up at around 05:00. About me
I was born and raised in Athens, studied Maritime Economics at the University of Pireaus, stayed in Spain for some time, traveled a lot but always returning.
I studied Cultural Management at the University of Athens. I was working for three years in the documentary and film industry, but now I am also involved in a construction company, which steals away all my precious time.
Why Athens?
- Athens is a living chaos, it is the most beautiful place but an ugly city.
- I feel like a tourist in Athens, keep discovering things I have never seen before.
- Athens has secrets, you have to ask for it.
- It is a 24hour city lost in its history that keeps reinventing itself. That’s magic.
- The sea.

Kaufmann sounds German, but its heart beats French. This bookstore sells mainly French, English and German books and is hosting also a small department of Greek literature. They have an interesting selection of travel literature and in case you need to learn something about cinematography, architecture, modern art, music, psychology, photography, politics, this is the place. It was founded in 1919 and it is housed in the same building ever since. Anyone could sense that by the smell of old paper and wood. I first visited Kaufmann seeking a book of Spanish literature, which the helpful staff ordered for me. I finally spent 5 hours there, reading comics and discussing with all the bookworms flooding the place. It is tricky to notice it because it has a very small entrance but it really is a unique place. Mystic Pizza – & pasta!
Mystic but not a secret, Mystic Pizza really serves an one of a kind pizza using only healthy ingredients, taking special care of your stomach. The dough is specially prepared with seeds of cannabis sativa, which strengthens your immunity system. And usually natural and healthy tastes good. You can find more details at the website, but you can taste the homemade pasta and pizza at this small, cosy place, washing your food down with a Greek beer from natural ingredients. And don’t forget the mushrooms! In any recipe! I would also recommend booking a table on rush hours because the place is small. Its easier at summer when they have some tables outside though. 7jokers is an all day bar at Syntagma. That means in the center of Athens, so it wont be difficult to catch. Just a few meters away from the metro Station, it is a nice starting point before a walk at the bars of Kolokotroni Street and Karitsi Square. People are drinking coffee, taking a lunch break (just for a snack) and this keeps going on until late at night when they serve good spirits and cocktails. Ariston pastry shop – Dough!!
Ariston is a pastry shop that opened in 1910. It is then, that the Lobotesis family came yo Athens and decided to open this little pastry shop, which nowadays feeds all ages with the best-ever, warm, delicious cheese pie in the center of Athens. I would recommend to test yourself and enter just for the traditional cheese pie. If you don’t run away in a hurry, you will find yourself with your eyes popped and your mouth running over the hot glass window. It is protecting the different kinds of pies, like ham & cheese, mushroom, aubergine, spinach, onion, meat, feta cheese, leeks and many many more. If you are a dough lover, visit this place on a Saturday morning, when this place is really crowded. Don’t worry though, somehow there is always enough for everybody!
