This article is not about a specific spot or place! This article is about cycling! I happen to be a bicycle enthusiast, especially when it comes to cycling in Athens! I love the city and I really really appreciate it more and more when I discover it over and over again through cycling.
For the past months there’s been an ongoing project in Athens, which is to connect the North part of the city with the sea. So, a bicycle lane is being built from Kifissia, all the way to Pireaus! Yes, it’s true!
For the time being, the part from Thisseio to Pireaus is almost complete and it’s the one part that is accessible! The route starts from the point on the map here and goes on for almost 9km till the Floisvos marina. If you fancy, you can continue parallel to the sea and reach Alimos. This will amount to 11km one way, that is 22km in total back and forth!
It’s an amazing ride, with nice scenery and the chance to take small breaks along the way as you will find plenty of places to eat and/or stop for a coffee! One place that we have recommended already, near the start of the route, is Spirtokouto!
Really nice spot for some Pokémon catching by the way!
