I don’t know about you but I have always been intrigued by the aromas and flavors of the… orient! I always like to experiment with food from China, Japan, Korea and so on and I always jump at the chance to taste some sushi at any new spot that I find! This was the case with Furin Kazan, located near Syntagma Square in Athens. It’s one of the oldest restaurants in this part of the city and has attracted some new ones that opened nearby!
Furin Kazan is owned by a food-fanatic where rumor has it that he goes out on his own, every day, bypassing traditional suppliers, to get his own ingredients for the lovely dishes served in Furin Kazan. The place is packed, throughout the day and night with locals but also tourists that happen to come across it! Recently I noticed that the place next door is empty, so they’re probably preparing to expand…
I have tasted the entire menu to be honest, and I therefore find it really really difficult to suggest any dish specifically! If I would have to choose two of them, I would definitely have the “Salmon Tataki” and the “California Maki”!
If you go there and the place is (as usual) full, walk a bit around the area or just visit one of the nearby cafes until a table is available!
