I always arrive out of breath at this bar longing for a beer to feel better. It is a little bit up the hill so get ready for some exercise (OK, I don’t want to scare you off, I am exaggerating). There is a big and old bike outside the door that makes me always think, are you kidding me? No way I am coming here by bike!
Embedded in vintage decoration, pictures of jazz musicians, CDs and jazz music (at exactly the right volume) you will most probably stay there until they throw you out. They are quite strict with the curfew. Of course I have to warn you. The big nights out it is full and as it is not too big, finding a seat is indeed a victory.
Right when you walk into the bar take a look at the doorphone. You will find names of all great musicians. Sometimes, yep they do live there.

Hallo,
I am the new owner of this bar and this is in deed the bar that moved from Crete to Athens (Kolonaki) with it’s old owner named Kostas Spanos. He died about a year ago.
The bar continoues to exist with the same philosophy and carries it’s history into the future.
(If you’d like to see Kosta go to youtube “Be-Bop Spoken Here”)
Thank you for answering, Ioannis.
Bad new that Kostas is not here anymore.
I go to Athens on the 2nd & the 9th of may. I will try to come to the Jazz’n'Jazz.
Musically.
Alain Villanneau.
I read on another website that the owner was called kostas but that he had died. Not sure if it’s the same person or not.
Kalimera
I would like to know if the owner of that Jazz’n'Jazz Bar is a man called Kostas.
I went to a Jazz’n'Jazz Bar in 1995, in a southern cretan village called Aghia Galini. I played saxophone one night there with a german friend of mine who plays boogie-woogie piano & Chicago blues. I kept in contact with Kostas during a year or two, visiting him in Aghia Galini, but then he moved to Athenes, as I was told by the people there.
So could it be the same person?
If you may go there one more time, would you be so kind as to ask for me please?
I thank you already for that & wish you some good vibes in the Kolonaki evenings.
Alain Villanneau, french saxophonist.
