The last few years one of the most fascinating neighborhoods of Athens has been the area around Syntagma square, dotted with lots of bars and cafes. Especially Nikis Street has turned into an ethnic street with lot of restaurants with specialities from around the world. Among all of those I choose Makalo as my dearest one!
Do not miss an opportunity to visit Makalo. Their food is amazing. You can choose among fresh salads and daily plates – I really like the salad with green apple and couscous, and another very special and tasty salad with beans and herring. Its soups are also good and if you like pasta you have to taste their lasagna!
At the end you can choose from their sweets – my favorite is their handmade cheesecake.
One more reason I love Makalo is Nikos! You can see him in the picture, and he is always super friendly and smiley.
An easy-going place ideal for your lunch or even your night drinks! Just bear in mind that on Mondays they often open after 13:00 — there are no regular opening hours for that day.
