Mikrolimano – An introduction to my neighborhood

If you have already seen a lot from Athens’ city centre, let’s take a walk around my neighbourhood. My idea was to introduce it to visitors that may have never heard about his area before. So here we are: Mikrolimano, a part of Piraeus! All you need to get there is to take the train (Green line, route to Piraeus) and stop at Faliro. After that just walk about 10¬†minutes.

Mikrolimano is a scenic neighbourhood with its small port and the hill overlooking it. Most of the time it is full of people visiting its cafes and restaurants. But for me the best you can do is to take a walk along the coastline until “Istioploikos” and enjoy the view of the sea, the city and Ymittos mountain. Best hour to visit? Of course close to sunset!¬†

If you are looking for a restaurant with seafood, one of my dearest ones – not only at the area but also around the whole city -is “Ammos” (Akti Koumoundourou 44). Taste the rice with mussels and saffron, and their roast octopus.

You can also visit the area by taking the “hop on hop off” bus.

It’s just completely different from the centre of the city and worth a visit – relaxing and easy going atmosphere, right next to the sea.
