Koudounaki (=Little Bell in Greek) is one of my new favorite places in Psyrri, in downtown Athens. Many friends had suggested visiting Koudounaki for a long time, but I always failed to do it because the road just led me somewhere else. At some point, I finally did and I immediately loved the place – and my friends because they have such good taste!
Koudounaki is a sweet little tavern located in the Psyrri area. Its owners, a mother and a daughter, will come to take your order with a great smile and a friendly attitude. All dishes are homemade, by the mother, with nice ingredients, lots of love and a little twist. You can find very traditional stuff here such as meatballs with fries and fava beans, but also more innovative dishes such as dried figs stuffed with minced meat.
If the weather is good, there are tables on the street and in front of the alley that overlooks the back of the Cantina Social – I love the little alleys of Athens! Enjoy a nice meal, with good wine or tsipouro, together with a warm welcome and a smile!
