I’m going to talk about one of your favourite places in Barcelona, even though probably you don’t know it yet. If you consider yourself a “Special-Corners Hunter” and you enjoy Thai food you really have to know El Petit Bangkok. It’s a tiny cozy restaurant that can hold just a few people, that’s why it’s always convenient to call and make a reservation before going there.

If you live in Barcelona you know that there are a lot of places that pretend to be much more than they can really offer. This never happens with El Petit Bangkok because it’s a place without other aspirations beyond of what it actually is: A tiny Thai corner.

If you’re looking for a special way to start a remarkable night or ending a hard day I recommend this place to you. The main secret of this place is perhaps its simplicity and quality. The price is honestly fair, considering the culinary offer in this city.

If you go once, you will go twice… at least.

What is delicious and what is not? Sometimes is very hard for me to give a correct answer. Since I remember, enjoying natural fruity juices is extremely easy for me. It’s not the same with beers or wine, for example; I confess I learned to enjoy these flavors and I had to “practice” a lot to find the main secrets of these beverages. But, come on! Orange juice is delicious and almost any blend of fruits can awake the feeling of “inner peace” in me. I don’t know! It’s strange but it’s also true that I can feel the balance of the universe every single time I drink some fruity blend.

The Zuum is a sort of battle-fruit star ship, the right way to reconnect ourselves with our most basic composition. Drink life, refresh your cells, quench your thirst healthily and follow this advice. It’s about your body and mind. It’s about your nature. Wanna join the adventure of the nature’s trip? Sorry for my good mood… I just got back from there.

Sometimes my appetite stresses my whole being when that weird dialog between my stomach and my brain begins. I say “Italian?” and my stomach says: “No, thanks!”. I propose Chinese, Japanese, fruits, a sandwich, some seafood and my stomach answers “No way! Forget it!” anyway. But I have a trick and I will share it this time because I know you can get great results too.

Those queer times when you understand you’re negotiating with your appetite don’t forget to try the Ugarit. Every time I go I find the same result: satisfaction. I think this place is a fantastic option when you’re starving but you cannot define the best way to quench that urge.

You will discover the variety of colours and flavours you can enjoy at just one place. I always receive a good attention and when I leave that restaurant I feel I ate healthily.

I confess I love trees. I really enjoy every single green corner of this city. After 8 years living here I’ve seen how some beautiful trees have disappeared from this very unique city’s scene. It’s a pity, I know.

It seems trees are not too attractive for some architects when they plan their projects. Sometimes is easy to miss the shadow some huge trees used to bring here and there; especially in the summer.

However I know a place where you can escape and hide from those annoying city noises, a place where you can sit anywhere to read peacefully or walking slowly over earthy corridors hearing the wind’s effect on tree’s leaves. I will tell you this secret, please keep it jealously, I’m talking about Turó Park, one of those very special and favourite corners I have.

Sometimes I play a sort of game, a kind of personal feng-shui. I try to find the right spot to sit and watch carefully, paying special attention to my most close environment. What a pleasure seeing how almost nothing’s happening. There’s just green leaves and me, maybe the birds, maybe some lovers, maybe the one you’re looking for too…

You won’t find this place. This place will find you like it did with me some years ago. It’s the perfect place to meet someone else or close some important business deal, having a first date or writing these notes. I would say more about Turó Park but there are so many things to keep quiet…

The Teatreneu is a big place. Actually it is big enough to develop a bar, a restaurant for smokers and non-smokers, a small terrace and an alternative theatre without interference between all these activities.

Let’s talk about the restaurant. The concept is pretty simple: it doesn’t matter what you would like to ask for eating, every dish worth exactly the same and just the drinks would affect the final receipt. It’s a great place to meet with a group of friends, there’s space enough for almost everyone.

The theater offers what bigger places perhaps wouldn’t present attending commercial interests, even though the Xavier Fabregas hall is not as small as you can imagine. Some of them are quite good!

You don’t need to leave the place to discuss the actors, the scenery, the direction or the general performance of the show. Before or after the playing you can drink or eat something at L’Escenari restaurant.

The Teatreneu is a place you need to be acquainted with it if you love theatre, food and Gracia.
