If you love a good burger, you’ll love Bacoa. Big, juicy, grilled medium-rare to perfection and with an excellent choice of gourmet add-ons, this is one of my favorite cheap eats in Barcelona.
It’s a fun place, taking the usually unappealing experience of eating a burger to a whole new level. The quirky and cool decorations, locally sourced ingredients, glass bottles with homemade sauces on every table… you don’t only get to enjoy the burger but also the atmosphere of the place.
Bacoa is partly responsible for the gourmet burger hype seen recently in the city, being one of the first such places that opened, at the beginning in a very small location right beside the Santa Caterina food market. It now operates that restaurant (Little Bacoa) and this new, bigger one close to Plaza Cataluña, as well as Kiosko in the Born district.
P.S. In case you were wondering… my top choice burger is without a doubt the “Manchego”: 250 grams of beef with manchego cheese, caramelized onion, Bacoa’s special sauce, tomato and lettuce. Delicious!
