Among all the small streets in the gotico in Barcelona, it is always nice to find a small place that not only follows tradition, but keeps it as a pleasure. Ginger may be one of the most classic cocktail and wine bars with a main advantage: their superfresh and reliable tapas.
This is no “formal dining”: it’s sitting down in a dim-lit place, with reasonable music to enjoy your glass of wine, cava or cocktail with a nice thing to avoid getting any hungry: don’t hesitate in trying the apple tart with foie gras or the tuna tataki. They’ll combine perfectly with a negroni, a cosmopolitan or a well-poured kir royale. Special mention, according to a friend, to the strawberry daiquiris.
The place itself its lovely: with many levels, you can be there with a small crowd or hide yourself from others with your partner in a comfortable corner. There are even two entrances: one that will lead you to the “regular bar” and other to a wine bar… with the selections of the day at your sight.
It’s warm in winter and kept cool in summer and now with the smoking prohibition has a cleaner air. They both cater to tourists as to regular clients who, from time to time, could bring in even their dog, making the bar even more cozy. (Don’t fear the dogs – they are friendly and know how to behave in public).
