One of the best value restaurants in Gràcia with a modern take on classic Catalan and Spanish dishes.
Classy though cosy, a modern interior with a separate, very airy, dining area at the back.
Goliard’s menu changes daily, and for your first course you’ll often find a pasta dish, such as macaroni with goat cheese and oregano sauce, or tagliatelle with mushrooms and ham, and maybe aubergine hummus served with pilchards, or braised potatoes with a smoked herring salad, or a simple green salad. For your second course you may have a choice of confit d’anec amb patates (leg of duck with potatoes), veal with an artichoke sauce, grilled chicken, squid, mandonguilles amb sèpia, (meatballs with cuttlefish), and butifarra (Catalan sausage).
The lunch menu includes bread (which is a good rustic bread) and table wine.
If you can’t read or speak Spanish or Catalan, don’t worry, you won’t have any problems, the staff are very patient and very helpful, and Iván, the maitre’d, lived in London for a few years and speaks perfect English.
The wine list here is very good – offering some very good wines and cavas at keen prices.
Given the quality of the food, the presentation, and the efficient, friendly service, lunch at Goliard is exceptionally good value. It’s a very popular spot with local office workers so be there before 14:00 and avoid the lunchtime rush.
Alternatively you could go for the menú degustación served in the evening – a steal at € 24.90.
