As a huge lover of pizza, I’m always on the lookout for good pizza in Barcelona, in as many places as possible around the city – ideally with the long-term goal that I’ll never have to walk far to get my fix! However, one day I substantially reduced the intensity of my search. That was the day when an Italian I met sent me to NAP, and after trying their amazing pizzas, I haven’t really needed to keep looking!
This place is simple, no frills, no gimmicks. The thing they focus on is quality, and it shows. I just love the texture and the thin, soft base, all cooked in such a short time in their wood-fire oven. Considering how good it is, the price always surprises me with a Margherita going for € 5.50 and the average price being around € 8.
Although the cooking doesn’t take long, NAP is so popular that it can often be difficult to get a seat in the original location in El Born, so either order to take away, or check out their other spot in Barceloneta. NAP Mar, down in Barceloneta on Carrer del Baluard, 69, is based on the same principles that make the original so good, same prices and everything, but with more menu options and quite a bit more space so it’s much easier to get a seat. If you want to be ultra-sure, NAP Mar also takes reservations by phone or Facebook message. A perfect formula, now implemented in two different locations.
