The lovely thing in the Born neighborhood is that every time you walk around you discover new places. Sometimes it’s already been there for a long time and you never knew, but often a new spot just opened their doors and you are lucky to be one of the first to find out.
So this happened on an autumn Friday night. Some friends and I were walking around to find a nice place to have some drinks and some of us had still to eat something as well. Then we saw this new pastrami bar, with lots of nice people standing in line to get a sandwich. The place looked really small, just a bar to get your sandwiches, but we gave it a try, so the hungry ones could still their stomachs and we could go on for drinks somewhere else afterwards. Standing in line we saw some of the people disappearing though a door. We weren’t sure what was behind this door, but got pretty curious! After some asking around, and some not very clear answers, we did get lucky and were invited to step through the door.
There we arrived in a very beautiful hidden cocktail bar, a so-called speakeasy. Professional bartenders are working on very innovative cocktails and you can even order food there from the pastrami bar. The food, just like the drinks, are at a very high level, both in taste and presentation.
