Like pizza? Yes? Then you’ll love this place.
I’m not a fan of takeaway pizza or frozen pizza, but I do enjoy freshly made homemade pizza, especially pizza made by Argentinian friends. The pizzas served here are the nearest you’ll get to quality homemade pizza.
Here, the pizza portions are fantastically flavoursome and incredibly good value. Probably the tastiest pizza portions in the city. I’ve never tasted better elsewhere.
They offer 25 different pizzas, including the classic Margarita and Napolitana, and more adventurous pizzas such as Bella Blu (tomato, mozzarella, bacon and apple), Carn Bier (Tomato, mozzarella, minced beef cooked in beer and bacon) and pizza with havarti cheese, goat’s cheese and scrambled egg.
Each portion comprises 4 big squares of pizza, the cheapest (Margarita) costs just €2.60 if served at the bar, €2.70 if served at the table. The most expensive, the eponymous, Lucania (tomato, mozzarella, prawns, lettuce and pineapple) costs €4 (bar) €4.10 (table).
They also offer a daily special.
They are not shown on the menu but they also serve salads. And they have olive oil spiced with chilli and a salsa picante (hot sauce).
It’s a snack bar, not a restaurant, so, no tablecloths. It’s small and always busy at mealtimes. It’s very, very popular with locals. Good for lunch and dinner. But, if you do go in the evening, especially Thursday, Friday or Saturday, expect a wait for a table. But you can have a drink at the bar while waiting.
Incredible flavours. Incredible value. Friendly service. Top spot. Highly recommended.
