One of the true epitomes of American life, places where villains in Hollywood movies go to stay unnoticed after they commit a crime, where coffee refills are normally included… Well, diners. It may sound strange, but, yes, there are diners in Serbia. If Bill Murray ever comes to shoot a movie here, you’ll probably meet him there.

“Intergalactic Diner” has attracted hundreds of burger lovers. You can never go wrong with selling hamburgers in Belgrade. Like every true diner, it’s open day and night.

I just love browsing through the menu here – you can order a Comet Dog, Black Hole Sun burger, Deep Space Chick, Tuned Universe salad, Cosmic pancakes, Supernova soup.

And I don’t even go there for the food, at least not as much as for the feeling of being somewhere in the US Midwest in the 60s. Insert a couple of coins in a tiny jukebox placed on every table, play the Everly brothers tune and take a sip of your fav soda, cause this is the place where it tastes best.

All burgers and hot dogs are served with French fries, onion rings and sauces. Ask for some chili sauce and have fun having immediate hiccups.

Besides the Vrachar joint, one has been opened in the very center and also in hotel Yugoslavia (Zemun). It’s great and a bit strange to be in the building which is a symbol of the old country, and at the same time in a space probably more American than McDonald’s.
