Although Strahinjica Bana Street is famous for fancy, expensive bars – there’s a sanctuary for all of us normal people searching for “a normal place” to have a drink. And when translated, the name of Normalno Mesto means exactly that: “a normal place.”
It’s a small bar right across the Kalemegdan Fortress. The people who hang out there are cool, and so are the waiters. The atmosphere is friendly and I think everyone feels welcome there. As for the music, they mainly play rock, funk, disco, soul and the like. In other words- the music is great!
One of the best things about this place is the choice of rakijas (brandies). They have around 40 kinds, and for some of them, it seems unthinkable they exist. Although I’m more of a “beer person,” I had to try spirits made of carrot, basil, and even cornelian cherries. They knocked me off my feet, both figuratively and literally!
