I know, there’s a Vapiano everywhere. But, when restaurant chains deserve an honorable mention by the locals, it means they’re special in some way. It’s located on the roof of Usce shopping center – not much of a romantic place indeed, but the thing is that, once you enter Vapiano, you’ll forget about where you are.
Its premises are huge, including the closed area and the one that’s actually on the roof, with a nice view over the nearby park and New Belgrade. The space is beautifully arranged, with flower pots of mint and basil on tables. If not dining, you can come just for a nice cup of coffee, or hot wine in the wintertime.
My suggestion is to start off with a small pumpkin soup. Big insalate mixta is a good choice, but also beware of the specialties, they always have something really tasty which is not on the regular menu.
Pastas set the standard here. From basic aglio e olio and pesto ones to scampi e spinaci, they’re all almost perfect. Try out great ‘bio’ pasta, made of integral flour.
When it comes to pizzas, pesto con spinaci is my fav – plain, tasteful and inexpensive.
The sweets also stick to the Vapiano standard – they look and taste delicious. Try out panna cotta, or death by chocolate, if you really need a shot of sugar.
