A coffee roastery in Prenzlauerberg. Actually not only that, they also roast cacao and have a pretty high level of quality when it comes to their offer of tarts and panini. The place has been around for more than a hundred years, to reach it you don’t have to travel back in time, moving away from the crossroad where U-Eberwalderstrasse is located is enough. Follow the Pappelallee and take the first right, a short walk later and you are on the Raumerstrasse. You are facing the front window. The design is closer to an old pharmacy than a bakery. You need to get closer to the window to see something, the best is to go inside.
Once inside where to look? Above your head there’s the ceiling fan, on your left the counter and a showcase full of incredible cakes, straight in front of you is a tiny corridor leading to another room with tables and armchairs. But there’s more! As a last layer in your line of sight you perceive people dressed in white in a kitchen working hard on new recipes. Definitively a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory feeling.
A very nice visit during your exploration of this part of Berlin. For a short moment you will perceive time differently, while eating your cake or drinking your coffee or just ordering something you will forget that you have to run to catch a tram or U-Bahn to check the next item on your to do list.
