Imbiss and “Refined German Cuisine” aren’t typically words that go together. In Germany, an Imbiss is a snack bar which usually offers fast food fare like French fries, currywurst and or Döner Kebap. You know, food for drunk people.
Imbiss 204 turns that idea on its head. Here the generously portioned food comes fresh and is reasonably priced. The two guys behind the counter are passionate about their food and it shows. For about € 10 you can have the daily special which typically features seasonal, local ingredients.
The menu changes daily; have a look at their website to see what’s on offer for the week. They don’t accept reservations – so don’t even bother trying to call ahead. Imbiss 204 is rather small so come early to avoid the lunch or dinner rush. In summer they set up a few tables outside. Germans are used to sharing tables though if there is room so don’t be too shy to ask. Who knows you might just make some new friends.
