Kino Central, a small cinema, just how I like them. Located in the busy touristy Hackescher Markt area by day, it becomes a quiet place again every evening after 18:00. The shops around are closed, tourists and shopping addicts have left the streets, only the cinema and most certainly some beer lovers are still walking around.
It is not directly located on Rosenthaler Strasse, but once you’ve found the Cafe cinema you just have to enter the passage, pass the eschschloraque bar and you are there. During the summer – starting early May – you end up in the Mitte open air cinema, which despite its name allows you to watch movies outdoors and stay dry even if some drops decide to show up in the middle of the movie. But the eight other months of the year you will prefer the real indoor cinema. The cinema rooms are small and comfortable, the projection and sound system are up to date, no worries. The walls are fully covered with movie posters and press articles about the current program. And most importantly the movies are shown in original language!
Once a month they show the movie “Berlin – Symphony Of A Great City” with live music from tronthaim. Check out the program, this movie from 1927 gives you another perspective of the city you are visiting almost 100 years before now.
PS: Mondays is € 6 entry.
