Klunkerkranich – Wooden bar on the roof

Neuköln is not a part of Berlin I know the best, it’s wide and wild and full of mysterious spots. In the last three to four years I have been attending the famous 48h art festival in Neukölln that usually takes place in June. For me it’s the perfect event to discover this area. Following this large event I now regularly attend exhibitions and performances at centrum for example. If you love tiny galleries or project spaces, it’s definitively an area to explore.

This part of the city can be very dense, not oppressing but you might sometimes like to escape for a bit, to see the sky or the horizon and go back to your city exploration. Thanks to the 48h art festival I once entered a mall, went up to the last parking floor and found myself on top of Berlin. Kunkernranich is the best place ever for watching the sunset over Berlin in summer and winter.

The place is very organic and the necessity to cross the parking place to reach the bar and terrace increases the feeling that you’re entering a secret place. Each time I feel like I’m joining a floating green island. It can be crowed, but that’s understandable as the view, the music, the food, the atmosphere… you get my point.
