Taking the idea of a cookbook just a few steps further, Kochhaus lets you walk through the recipes rather than skim through them on paper – fancy that!
As I am not the greatest at time management, this little spot facilitates my culinary life immensely. It works like this: instead of classifying food by product groups they are classified by recipe. You have up to about 18 different tables with 1 delicious recipe each. The board tells you how much it will cost per person and what ingredients you need. Pick up a paper brochure with the desired recipe and decide how many people you want to cook for. Then pick out the ingredients dictated by the recipe, which are all laid out and ready for you to take on the same table, with the exact measurements and off you go to discover your new cooking talents – easy peasy.
Try a Mediterranean risotto, an Indian Palak Paneer, salmon with violet potato peels on apple chutney a yummy chickpea and fennel soup, passion fruit Crème with almond brittle and vanilla ice cream…you get the picture.
Recipes change every 2 to 3 weeks and you always have a choice of starters, salads, soups, pasta and rice dishes, fish and meat dishes and desserts. Take your pick. So dive in and get creative in your own kitchen! No need to be an expert cook, though you may feel like one when you’re done preparing your meal.
