A fresh and welcome alternative to Döner kebab when you find yourself roaming the streets of Mitte with nothing but food on your mind. It took a while for me to venture into this little deli, but I was pleasantly surprised when I did.
You can get a proper, sinful sandwich here – nice, chunky, fresh and good-looking enough to make your mouth water when you see it. My favorite is the Grilled Scamorza with grilled vegetables and salad with scamorza cheese melted on top. But my friends usually rave about their pastrami sandwiches, which is what Zuckermann is known for.
The small place somewhat reminds one of a New York-style deli. But guess what? We’re not in New York. We’re in Berlin. And they come up with their own tasty concoctions with high quality ingredients here. What’s best, they get most of their ingredients from local producers. It’s a mix between Italian and Israeli kitchen creativity plus a touch of American, including American apple pie!
Hearty salads are also on the menu along with freshly squeezed juice. They also have fresh, homemade lemonade with added mint leaves and, even though I still haven’t tried their coffee, a lot of people walk that little bit further to get it there.
I like the fish-shaped water jar that gurgles when you pour, the friendly service, fresh ingredients, all-day breakfasts and the fact that they’re open late – around the clock on weekends.

I love these Sandwiches!
But they have new Prices… now it´s like 6€ for a sandwich.
Hey John,
Glad to hear you liked it! I do have a soft spot for those sandwiches as well. And the staff is always very friendly
Best. Pastrami. Ever. Tasty sandwiches and great coffee. Best americano I’ve had in Berlin. Nice interior and wonderful staff. Recommended for their sandwiches, and today I’m going back for their breakfast omelet.
