This place probably has a life by night, no doubt, but I only know it through my regular Sunday visits when I come for the brunch. Also I heard their chili con carne is pretty good. Nothing spectacular here in terms of food, nothing vegan-for-life-or-die, but fresh eggs, a buffet regularly refilled and good coffee.
I like the atmosphere, it makes you feel at home, and despite my cliché it is true. Your plate is empty, go to the bar where the food is available and refill your plate as you would do at home. The place can fill up very fast, but I’ve always found a table or a corner to enjoy my first Sunday meal with friends. And worst case scenario you can always come back one evening to try their chili con carne.
And through its location it may be the best starting point to slowly move. It’s Sunday, so no rush, to the various flea or Christmas markets of the area depending on the season. Follow the Fehrbelliner Strasse toward Arkonaplatz, this your first stop, take it as a warm up. When ready you can proceed to the Mauerpark. Enjoy your Sunday. Of course staying in the coffee place and reading newspapers instead of running around is completely allowed.
What is worth mentioning is that they also offer accommodation for a reasonable price. Many other bars in Berlin have this option which I always share when friends are coming to visit.
