The Wasserspeicher (water tower) in Prenzlauer Berg is a location ready to dazzle you with arcades and red brick texture. It hosts performances and installations of sound, light and video. The venue is in the middle of a charming little park and has two entrances, one for the big water reservoir and one for the small one.
The space offers quite a unique in between reality: it’s both above and underground (the little park is extended above the venues and looks as a little hill in the middle of the intersection). The space needs to be tamed for each exhibition: it is rather humid and cold, so don’t forget to get your jacket. That is why most of the installations shown there are built during summer time.
Singuhr Gallery works with this space on a regular basis with a focus on sound installations. The space has a wonderful acoustic. Since May they have reopened their doors. The exhibitions will run until autumn.
Tip: Long night of the Wasserspeicher on September 2nd, until 24 O’clock.
