10 Outdoor Winter Spots in Europe

Although some Spotters are already anticipating spring in Europe (like the ever optimistic Antwerp Spotter Tinneke , who is already talking about barbecuing in Spoor Noord park :) ) it’s still really winter in Europe.

There’s a lot of fun things to do in Europe this winter – and not just indoors…

Here is a  selection of 10 cool outdoors winter spots, recommended by our locals!

1. Athens – Moorings – Chill on the beach in the winter!
Athens Spotters Maria & Petros love, (and rub it in…) the great weather in Athens in February compared to other European cities  “Europe is getting warmer and warmer and it already gets us fantasizing longer, sunnier laid-back days. But in Greece, we’re already there! Lazing about on the beach is no longer a fantasy!…”

2. Copenhagen -Månefiskeren – Kicking back in the city
Copenhagen Spotter Mayra recommends you to walk around Christiana, and stop at one of her favorite places there – Månefiskeren – for a cup of hot chocolate.

3. Helsinki – Ice park Helsinki
Helsinki Spotter Nea recommends you to go skating in the center of Helsinki.
“It’s so romantic,  so so much fun and silly. Even though I don’t skate very well it’s still fun!”

4. Istanbul – Ali Usta Icecream – Ice-cream in winter!
Ice-cream in Winter? No problem in the winter in Istanbul! Ali Usta Icecream is Istanbul Seda’s favorite.

5. Krakow – Bulwary Wiślane – Boulevard with a view
Bulwary Wiślane is a main boulevard, and a great place to watch the castle, and the city of Krakow, and do some outdoor winter activities. As our Krakow Spotter Damian recommends Damian-style  “Is nice, I like!”

6. Munich – Winter Sports in the center!
Munich is one of the few cities where you can enjoy winter sports within the city limits. Sports lover Adrian has some great tips on where to enjoy winter sports like cross-country skiiing and skating.

7. Prague – Podoli swimming pool – Outdoor swimming in winter!
Prague Spotter Jana Kneschke loves to go swimming outside in the heated pool. “The steam from the outside pool actually gives a very special atmosphere.”

8. Oslo – Korketrekkern – Winter fun Norwegian style!
Romanian-born Oslo local Andrea got the hang of a very Norwegian tradition: tobogganing! “…you’re on your way down for about 1.5 km filled with speed and fun. Not to mention the amazing views over the city!”

9. Rome -Villa Borghese – Relax in the city center
Rome Spotter Sabrina’s favorite winter spot is Villa Borghese – a place where many winter activities are possible.
“During the winter, the view is amazing and you get to see a wonderful tall Christmas tree.”

Jarun Zagreb – by Paul Knowles

10. Zagreb – Jarun – The Zagreb “sea”
Zagreb Spotter Milana recommends Jarun – a nice lake to walk around, and do some clubbing at night.
