This week’s Spotter in the spotlight is Kelli Kiipus from Tallinn!
Kelli is a cheerful, short, and lovely girl from the Telliskivi district. She is a university graduate and hopes to become a magnificent musical therapist. Kelli enjoys reading at a bookstore and shopping at a thrift shop. Having lived abroad twice; once in Palermo (Italy) 9 months and once in Wuhan (China) for 3 months, she now values Tallinn wholeheartedly. Kelli adores finding inspiration during the late hours of the night. She has been a Spotter for a year now and having her as part of our Spotted by Locals community has truly been marvelous.
Kelli loves Tallinn because there are so many things to do like going for long walks by the seaside or visiting the Old Town, Soviet Union districts, modern restaurants, hidden bars, and different festivals. Kelli notes “I’ve been here for a few years now, I’m still hungry for this city!”
A small selection of Kelli’s favorite spots:
This is one of Tallinn’s hidden gems and it is time for you to discover it. Enjoy a delicious salad or a tasty grilled dish, whichever you choose make sure to top it off with a delicious cocktail and good company. You will definitely enjoy the “cool bartender, water-pipe, open air, and a summer breeze” says Kelli. Furthermore, this spot is definitely a must visit when in Tallinn if you want to relax and enjoy your summer.
Have you heard of a soup buffet? If not then stopping at this magnificent spot to have some soup is a must. According to Kelli “on weekdays at the Rooftop Café you can eat as much soup as you wish and it only costs € 3.50! You can try 3 different soups, a light warm soup, a heavier warm soup, and a puree soup”. Experience and taste Tallinn’s culinary arts with an ambience that will make you feel right at home.
Local tip from Kelli: Try the soup with goat’s cheese – for a great new soup experience!
When two friends come together to start up a coffee shop called Epic coffee; you’d better trust and believe that the different variety of teas and coffee they serve are truly epic. The ambience is warm and hip and the interior was designed by the owners themselves.
According to Kelli the spot has “an amazing playlist, cool atmosphere and with the perfect vibe to chill or work on your computer!” Stop by Epic coffee to find out for yourself why locals love the coffee and teas at this amazing spot!
Sunday Brunch with the family at this marvelous spot is something locals in Tallinn love doing. According to Kelli what makes this restaurant so unique is that the brunch is a different theme every month! January was Italian month, February belonged to Estonia, March took us to Spain! And April-May surprised us with Street food! During the summer you have the opportunity to enjoy the Mediterranean kitchen! Discover the magnificent flavors of all the different brunch themes with your family and other locals.
Local tip from Kelli: Eat as much as you can and pay only € 20 (Children 6-12 years € 10)! The price includes freshly baked white and dark bread, herb cream cheese, butter, coffee, tea, juice, ice water and a welcome drink.
The minimalist interior design and incredible views of the surroundings outside truly make this place magical. The open kitchen gives you an opportunity to see your meals being prepared by the cooks.
If that does not grab your attention then the fact that they make the best omelet with bacon in town should definitely have you wondering why you haven’t tried it yet. Make sure you pass by this fascinating place to try out their delicious late breakfast.
