Come on, don’t be a snob. One of my favorite Paris experiences was on one of these things. I was riding on the top, we were heading up the Champs-Elysées and it started raining – hard. Everyone else scurried below, I put up my little travel umbrella and as we went through the Arc de Triomphe the wind came up and blew my umbrella inside out. Very dramatic. The sun soon returned and I remember this orientation tour every time I use my slightly crippled little umbrella.
Hi Mmuse, we’re sure people can have a lot of fun on them like you did – I’m sure we could too! We’re not against them or people who use them; we just think they’re not “local travel”. This is what we highlight in this “this is not local travel” series.
