There are plenty of places that you can go in Boston where you’ll leave with less hair than you entered with. But if you’re like me, meeting that standard isn’t really enough to warrant going there. Some have had a terrible atmosphere, others simply are too expensive to justify on any kind of reasonable budget. Thankfully, I found Barbershop Deluxe.
Housed in a South End Brownstone that couldn’t be closer to downtown if it tried, Barbershop Deluxe hits a fair price point while also employing talented, invested barbers that will treat you with respect. I’ve been to two different guys there over the past year, and both sent me out the door feeling elated with the experience I had, the cut I received, and the price I paid for it.
Mike is a freaking hair wizard. I sat down in his chair – feeling guilty as I was about 10 minutes late – and he complemented my tattoos, listened intently to what I wanted, and then enthusiastically offered his opinion, and began.
Justin is a superbly talented barber who takes his time to make sure he’s crafting exactly what you want on your head. He has the cutting chops to be working at a shop charging way more, and is a hidden gem of a hairdresser in himself.
I can’t speak highly enough about Barbershop Deluxe and the people in it. And they have a dog. It ticks every box.
