We’re vegetarians, babe. What’s even the point of us eating at a place called Certified Meatball Company? That’s definitely what ran through my mind when my boyfriend suggested we try it out, anyways. We were hungry, it was close, and we decided to take the plunge, prepared to split a sad salad or some lackluster meat substitute.
Mamma Mia, were we wrong. We ordered a couple different dishes featuring the vegetarian meatballs, but instead of the usual depressing ground Tofurkey got these awesome hushpuppy-veggie fritter hybrids that tasted great in everything, from the pesto to the coconut-lime curry. And don’t worry, carnivores, CMC still has the classic (and always awesome) beef meatball-marinara sauce combo, along with specialty dishes that go above and beyond that (exhibit A: Turkey Mole Verde). Or hey, why not go straight to their signature “Sweetball” desserts? With flavors like Lemon Coconut Meringue and Salted Peanut Butterscotch, I don’t think they’re something you want to miss.
If (when!) you decide to hit up Certified Meatball Company, I’d recommend going with a group and ordering a bunch of plates to share, that way you can try out all the different flavors of meatballs and assortment of sauces they’re paired with. It’s definitely a great place to mix and match.
