In all honesty, I’m not a huge sports bar fan. However, with its authentic feel of Boston culture, McGreevy’s holds a huge place in my heart. In fact, I’ve probably been to McGreevy’s three times as often as I’ve been to any other place I’ve reviewed on Spotted by Locals! McGreevy’s started out as my college haunt, but even now, a year after graduation, I’m still a steady customer.
McGreevy’s is seeped in Boston history. Not only is it advertised as the oldest sports bar in the U.S., it’s also considered the “home” of the Dropkick Murphys, an iconic Massachusetts band. Its walls display its history, covered in sports memorabilia, old portraits and newspaper clippings. Basically, if this is your first visit to Boston or your fortieth, it’s a great place to absorb the Boston spirit and immediately feel at home.
The food at McGreevy’s doesn’t disappoint either! They have a killer brunch on the weekends, along with tons of regular food specials (Dollar Sliders Tuesday 16:00 – 19:00!) to get you prepped for a Red Sox Game. They also offer trivia, comedy, and other great events to keep you well fed and entertained. Stop by their website for the full calendar!
