Despite its name, this spot has nothing to do with the Hound of the Baskerville or any type of scary black dog you might think about. It is true that at first glance it could appear a bit mysterious: this bar is located in a narrow, low traffic street under the city ramparts. Then you reach this small wooden door (watch out for your head if you’re tall) and you go down to this basement-like tavern.
This might sound a little bit spooky but I just wanted to intrigue you, there’s nothing spooky about the interior. Once you’re in you discover this warm lighted low ceiling labyrinth-like bar, one of the nicest in Bratislava (according to me). It is furnished with solid wood stools and tables, mixed with more special pieces (there are also tables made from a vintage sewing machine).
As I suppose you won’t go just to sit there, let me have a quick word about the refreshments. To me this place goes with beer. They serve several kinds of the Czech Bernard beer but the most impressive is Lavina (avalanche): it really looks like brown snow rushing in your glass. And if you want to have a bite, the menu includes some snacks which go perfectly with a beer: sausages, spreads or pickled cheese. Very typical, very tasty :).
