I have debated lots with myself whether to write about this spot or not. Obviously the Grand Place of Brussels is one of the must-see attractions of the city so every tourist will pass by there.
But today I want to suggest you go there late in the evening, even if the weather is not warm as we would like it to be. Buy a beer in one of the nearby shops, maybe some french fries, and sit there on the famous old Belgian pave.
Soak in the ancient spirit of this amazing square, chat with your friends, get to know the group of foreigners sitting next to you.
There is just one thing you have to promise me you will do before you have had too many Duvels… Check out the Town Hall building (on your right when you enter the square coming from La Bourse) and tell me what’s wrong with it. I will then tell you a story about it :)
And because now it’s Christmas time, there is a huge Christmas tree, a nativity setting and a 15 minutes sound and light show, which is quite impressive (every half hour on Fri – Sun, every hour on the other days, from 17:00 to 22:00).
