The Flagey area is very popular not only because of its numerous bars and restaurants but also because it’s a perfect outdoor place (see Place Flagey article).
From the Flagey square (which was itself a pond centuries ago), you have the beginning of the first of the two Ixelles Ponds (Etangs d’Ixelles, in French), and it’s crazy to realise that you can easily walk from there to the heart of The Sonian Forest (see The Sonian Forest article) through Bois de la Cambre (see Bois de la Cambre article) by staying in a green zone!
The banks of the the ponds will make you discover hundreds of beautiful houses from various architecture styles and periods.
It’s a wealthy quiet area and still very popular for a walk or a run any day of the year, anytime of the day or the night.
It’s also a nice walk with the kids to show them the fauna which lives there.
If you want to have a seat on the grass on a sunny day, I will suggest you not do it at the border of the first pond (the one closest to Flagey) it’s a bit… gross, unfortunately.
Take the time to walk till the second one and you’ll find some clean and comfortable grass!
